Research Areas

The Noel Drury, M.D. Institute for Translational Depression Discoveries is at the forefront of innovative research in understanding, treating, and preventing depression. Our multidisciplinary approach integrates various levels of analysis, from genetics to behavior, to uncover the complex mechanisms underlying depressive disorders. We are committed to developing personalized treatments and identifying individuals at risk for depression, with a focus on translating our findings from the laboratory to clinical applications.

Our research is guided by four key goals:

  1. Integrating multiple units of analysis to probe depression mechanisms and identify novel treatment targets.
  2. Enabling personalized treatments and risk identification for depression onset and relapse.
  3. Fostering a dynamic research community that generates intellectual property opportunities.
  4. Promoting a bidirectional, bench-to-bedside framework for rapid translation of discoveries.

Through our seven focused research areas, we aim to revolutionize our understanding of depression and improve the lives of millions affected by this debilitating condition:
