Associate Professor, Psychiatry & Human Behavior

My research program is based in the Psychiatry Department, the UCI Institute for Memory Impairments and Neurological Disorders, and the UCI Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center.  The Program focuses on cognitive aging, Alzheimer’s disease, other dementia syndromes, and psychiatric disorders more broadly among older adults.   Studies have evaluated the pathophysiology and treatment of Alzheimer’s disease, including preclinical treatment studies.  Projects have focused on the neuropsychiatric symptoms that occur in those with cognitive disorders, and explore relationships among these symptoms, biomarkers for neuropathologies, and the progression of cognitive difficulties in later life.  Psychiatric symptoms as risk factors for Alzheimer’s disease are considered in current studies.
