Stephen Schueller

Dr. Schueller is a licensed clinical psychologist and mental health services researcher. His research program centers on expanding access to effective mental health care by leveraging digital technologies. This includes the development, evaluation, and implementation of digital mental health treatments, especially for common mental health issues such as depression and anxiety and in diverse settings and populations. This work lies at the intersection of clinical science, human-computer interaction, and implementation science. Through this interdisciplinary approach, his research seeks to close the mental health treatment gap by making effective care more accessible, scalable, and user-centered. Dr. Schueller is an international expert in digital mental health with over two decades of work in this space including conducting multiple clinical trials of digital mental health interventions. He is also a member of APA’s panel on Depression Treatment Guidelines.
